“A well-informed mind is the best security against the contagion of folly and of vice. The vacant mind is ever on the watch for relief, and ready to plunge into error, to escape from the languor of idleness.”
Ann Radcliffe, The Mystery of Udolpho, 1764
This is the story of the four and a half years I spent at a large state university in the Midwest – known for it’s well-respected journalism school. All of the things that I write about happened, although descriptive features may have been left out to blur out the specific location. All names of the people involved in this story have been changed for their own privacy. This is my story. And I’m going to tell it. Vice, folly, warts and all.
Bad decision making usually occurs chronologically, although this blog runs back and forth between then and now. Please use these pages below as the way to read the whole story as it occurred.

I’m curious – does aforementioned large state university happen to be UW-Madison?
